Dear Year 9

Welcome to our Year 9 options information page. I hope it will provide you with useful additional information to help you choose the subjects you wish to follow in Years 10 and 11.

You will know that a significant amount of preparation and research into your interests and possible options has already taken place (thank-you Miss Bushell). This is to ensure that we are able to provide the greatest possible range of options to meet the needs and interests of as many of you as possible. We have done this through a series of option choice simulations, the feedback from which has helped us to determine the final option blocks. We hope that you will be able to choose all of the subjects you wish to follow, but we also know from experience that some of these subjects may ‘clash’ with your other choices in the same option block. This is an inevitable fault of the options process I’m afraid, and one we have tried to minimize through our preparation process. These final option blocks cannot be changed, but we hope that they provide enough variety that you will be able to choose suitable alternative subjects if you need to.

Please be assured that we will continue to have discussions with you about your choices. You will also have an opportunity before the end of the year to have ‘taster’ lessons in your chosen subjects, and if you feel you want to swap subjects, you will be able to, provided the subject you are moving to is in the same option block and there is room in those lessons for you. Many people do this prior to the start of the GCSEs in year 10, so please don’t worry that you will be stuck in the subjects that you have chosen at this stage.

Croeso i'n tudalen wybodaeth opsiynau Blwyddyn 9. Rwy’n gobeithio y bydd yn darparu gwybodaeth ychwanegol ddefnyddiol i chi i’ch helpu i ddewis y pynciau yr hoffech eu dilyn ym mlynyddoedd 10 ac 11.

Byddwch yn gwybod bod cryn dipyn o waith paratoi ac ymchwil i'ch diddordebau a'ch opsiynau posibl eisoes wedi digwydd (diolch Miss Bushell). Mae hyn er mwyn sicrhau ein bod yn gallu darparu'r ystod fwyaf bosibl o opsiynau i gwrdd âg anghenion a diddordebau cynifer ohonoch â phosibl. Rydym wedi gwneud hyn trwy gyfres o ddewisiadau opsiwn efelychiedig, y mae'r adborth ohonynt wedi ein helpu i benderfynnu'r blociau opsiynau terfynol. Gobeithiwn y byddwch yn gallu dewis pob un o’r pynciau yr ydych am eu dilyn, ond gwyddom hefyd o brofiad y gallai rhai o’r pynciau hyn ‘wrthdaro’ â’ch dewisiadau eraill yn yr un bloc opsiynau. Mae hyn yn fai anochel o'r broses opsiynau mae gen i ofn, ac yn un rydyn ni wedi ceisio ei lleihau trwy ein proses baratoi. Ni ellir newid y blociau opsiynau terfynol hyn, ond gobeithiwn eu bod yn darparu digon o amrywiaeth y byddwch yn gallu dewis pynciau gwahanol addas os bydd angen.

Byddwn yn parhau i gael trafodaethau gyda chi am eich dewisiadau. Byddwch hefyd yn cael cyfle cyn diwedd y flwyddyn i gael gwersi 'blasu' yn eich pynciau dewisol, ac os ydych chi'n teimlo eich bod chi eisiau newid pynciau, byddwch chi'n gallu, ar yr amod bod y pwnc rydych chi'n symud iddo yn yr un bloc opsiynau ac mae lle yn y pwnc hwnnw i chi. Mae llawer o bobl yn gwneud hyn cyn dechrau'r TGAU ym mlwyddyn 10, felly peidiwch â phoeni y byddwch chi'n ‘styc’ yn y pynciau rydych chi wedi'u dewis ar hyn o bryd.

Yn olaf, rydym yn ymwybodol bod y rhain yn benderfyniadau pwysig i chi. Os ydych am gysylltu â ni gydag unrhyw gwestiynau neu ymholiadau, defnyddiwch y ddolen isod a byddwn yn cysylltu â chi cyn gynted â phosibl.
